The weather decision API

Don't send your users a forecast. Send them an answer.

One call tells your app or AI agent whether and when to do something outside: a verdict, a score, the best time windows and the risks, in plain JSON.

Why a decision API

Weather data is hard to turn into a yes or no

A raw forecast is dozens of numbers per hour. weatherAI.io scores every hour for the activity, finds the best windows, flags the risks and explains it in one sentence, so you don't have to write the rules yourself.

1

One call, one answer

Verdict (great → avoid), a 0–100 score, up to three best time windows and the risks with their times.

AI

Built for AI agents

An MCP server for Claude, Cursor and other agents, plus OpenAPI and llms.txt. Small, predictable JSON with a one-line summary that fits in a chatbot reply.

What you can ask about

Running

Outdoor run or jog: comfortable temperature, little rain, light wind, not too much sun.

activity=running

Cycling

Road or leisure cycling: wind and gusts matter most, then rain and temperature.

activity=cycling

Outdoor event (BBQ, party, wedding)

Several hours outdoors with guests: dry, warm enough, not too windy, in daylight.

activity=outdoor-event

Beach day

Sunbathing and swimming: warm, sunny, dry and not too windy. High UV is reported as a risk, not a reason to stay away.

activity=beach

Drying laundry outside

Washing on the line: dry air, a breeze, some warmth and no rain.

activity=laundry-drying

Stargazing

Clear, dark skies at night: little cloud, a small or set moon, good visibility and no rain.

activity=stargazing

Hiking and hill walking

Several hours on foot in daylight: dry, mild, good visibility, no storms. Mountain weather can differ from the forecast for the nearest town.

activity=hiking

Golf

Four or more hours on the course: dry, light wind, comfortable temperature. Any thunder means off the course.

activity=golf

Tennis, padel and pickleball (outdoor)

An hour or two on an outdoor court: dry courts and little wind matter most.

activity=tennis

Dog walking

A walk with a dog: heat is the main danger (dogs overheat and pavements get hot), then storms and heavy rain.

activity=dog-walking

Gardening

A few hours in the garden: mild, mostly dry and not too windy.

activity=gardening

Fishing (from the shore or bank)

Hours by the water: light wind, no storms (a rod attracts lightning). Light rain and cloud are fine.

activity=fishing

Sailing (leisure, inshore)

Needs a breeze of about 12 to 35 km/h, no squalls or storms, and good visibility. Not a marine forecast: check official marine and tide information before going out.

activity=sailing

Drone flying

Short flights in daylight: low wind and gusts, no rain or snow, good visibility, batteries above about 5°C. Always follow local drone rules.

activity=drone-flying

Exterior painting

Painting walls, fences or woodwork outside: air at 10°C or more, dry for hours, humidity under about 70% and little wind. Check the paint's own limits.

activity=exterior-painting

Pouring concrete

A pour and the first hours of curing: air above 5°C (no frost), no rain, not too hot or windy (fast drying cracks the surface).

activity=concrete-pour

Roofing and work at height

Work on roofs and scaffolding: wind and gusts first, then rain, ice and storms.

activity=roofing

Crop spraying

Spraying crops: a light, steady breeze (about 3 to 15 km/h; dead calm risks drift in an inversion), no rain soon after, not hot. Always follow the product label.

activity=crop-spraying

Outdoor work (building sites, landscaping, events crew)

A shift outdoors: heat stress first, then storms, cold, ice and heavy rain.

activity=outdoor-work

Driving and road trips

Time on the road: ice, snow, fog, heavy rain and storm-force gusts. Temperature itself does not matter.

activity=driving

Questions

How is this different from a weather API?

Weather APIs give you the data; weatherAI.io gives you the decision. There are no raw hourly tables to interpret: you get a verdict, a score, the best times and the risks for the thing your user wants to do.

What counts as a call?

Each successful /v1/decide answer is one call. Bad requests, unknown places, rate-limited requests and our own errors are free. /v1/activities and /v1/usage are always free.

What happens after my free calls?

Paid calls come from prepaid credit at £0.0012 each, VAT included. When both run out the API answers 402 until you top up or the next month's free calls start. You are never billed by surprise.

Can I use it from an AI agent?

Yes. Add our MCP server (https://api.weatherai.io/mcp) to Claude, Cursor or any MCP client, or point your agent at our OpenAPI spec or llms.txt. The summary field is written to be read out as it is.
